Town of Tewksbury Updates: precautionary measures

As of Monday, all town buildings, including Police Headquarters, were closed to the public. This was a precautionary measure and every department is, and continues, to work on maintaining the exceptional level of service our residents have come to know and expect. Our mission is and will always be to keep the community safe and assist everyone in their time of need. The Tewksbury Police Department remains vigilant while we continue to protect and serve our community during this trying time. Although police headquarters is closed to the public, the department remains fully operational and continues to respond to all calls for service. As we continue to work through this period, we have developed better ways to respond to some of our service calls.
While reviewing the Centers for Disease Control guidelines, some changes have been made to allow us to keep our officers protected while also being available to protect and serve our town. These small changes will also protect the public by reducing the amount of personal space and contact for all. As a police department, we will continue to deliver community services, investigate crimes, and make arrests when necessary. We have put into place a new option which will allow the community to report minor (non-urgent) crimes on-line, thus eliminating the need to come into the station. Please be assured these incidents will be reviewed and followed-up on by an officer.
As a department we will continue to plan for any issues that may arise during this time. As always, we ask that in an emergency you call 9-1-1 and that all other non-emergency issues be directed to our business line: 978-851-7373 Ext. 0 to speak with a dispatcher. Additionally, for those crimes/incidents that do not require immediate response, citizens can file a crime/incident report online:

If you are not sure if online reporting is appropriate, please call the business line at the police department (978-851-7373 Ext. 0).
