How Can I Help?

There are multiple ways to support the efforts at the Malden Warming Center. As a community-run, volunteer based organization, we have many ways you can get involved!
Volunteer
We need volunteers to help with transportation; monitoring guests during the center’s hours of operation; preparing hot meals in the evening and morning; and sorting clothes, preparing personal care kits and snack bags.

Volunteer shifts include:
Transportation 1: 7PM – 9PM
Transportation 2: 6AM – 7AM
Shift 1: 6:30PM – 10:30PM
Shift 2: 10:30PM – 2:30AM
Shift 3: 2:30AM – 6:30AM
Kitchen 1: 7PM – 9PM
Kitchen 2: 5AM – 6:30AM

Training
All volunteers must be trained annually. Training covers staff responsibilities, guest agreements, and NARCAN. You may attend this training before or after you fill out the volunteer form. All trainings are held at the Church of the Nazarene and you do not need to sign-up in advance. The following are the training dates/times:

Saturday, February 1st, 2020: 10:00AM – 1:00PM

If you are able, we would also like to offer an opportunity to donate.

Monetary: A GoFundMe page (gf.me/u/wffibk) has been set-up to raise the necessary funds for this year. You can also send checks payable to Malden Warming Center and mail to 529 Eastern Ave., Malden, MA 02148.
Clothing: Gently-used, like-new and new quality winter garments for adult men and women. Most needed are coats, hats, gloves, scarves, warm socks, sweat pants and shirts, hoodies, and thermals.
Toiletries: Deodorant, small bottles of shampoo, shower gel, hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products.
Non-perishable Food: Granola bars, energy bars, applesauce, peanut butter, canned goods.
Other: Backpacks.
Donation Drop-Off: Donations should be brought to the Church of the Nazarene, 529 Eastern Ave., Malden, Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, or during the Malden Warming Center’s hours of operation. Please call 781-324-4230 to be sure there is someone at the church to receive the items. Items are not to be left outside.
