Armed Bank Robbery Prevented by Tewksbury Police – Suspects Arrested

On October 24, 2019 at 1:40 PM the Tewksbury Police Department arrested Michael Moran, 40, of 55 Dartmouth St., Somerville for attempt to commit a crime (armed bank robbery, while masked), conspiracy, 2 counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, subsequent offense (knife and ice pick) and for having a warrant out of Medford for unarmed robbery. Also arrested was Mark Richards, 45, of 102 Balsam Place, Tewksbury for attempt to commit a crime (armed bank robbery, while masked) and conspiracy.

Detectives received information from the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force that Moran was wanted for robbery and was possibly in the area. They stated that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

As a Detective was checking the area he spotted an individual (Moran) inside of a motor vehicle putting on a scream type Halloween mask. Area units responded and were able to arrest both Moran and the driver of the vehicle (Richards), prior to a robbery occurring. The mask, along with a knife and ice pick were located inside the vehicle.

Both are due to be arraigned at Lowell District Court on October 25, 2019
