Mah Jongg Mondays: Our Mah Jongg players are welcoming and inclusive. Novices will receive very relaxed instruction from players who are happy to share their knowledge. The club meets on Mondays at noon or 1:00 PM—your choice.
Friends of the Sherborn Library Book Sale, Saturday, October 13, 10 AM – 4 PM, Sherborn Community Center: The Friends of the Sherborn Library will be hosting a book sale on the second floor in the Community Center. Check out the huge selection from all your favorite authors, including popular adult fiction and nonfiction, children’s books and a selection of movies, all reasonably priced. All proceeds from the Book Sale go to the Friends of the Sherborn Library to support valuable programming and enriching materials to the Sherborn community as well as to provide a welcoming space within the walls of the Library.
History of the Cranberry in Holliston & Sherborn, Sunday, October 14, 2:00 PM: The cranberry has had a long and fruitful history in Massachusetts. Join us for an informative discussion on the history of the cranberry industry, particularly in Holliston and Sherborn, jointly led by Betsy Johnson, Sherborn’s Town Historian, as well as Joanne Hulbert, Holliston’s Town Historian. Ancestry Library Edition: Tackling the “Big Gorilla,” Wednesday, October 31 and November 14, 1:00 PM: Join us for a two-part exploration of the largest genealogical database, Ancestry.com, with all of its pros and cons. STEM Drop-in Building Structures with Squares, Thursday, October 11, 3:30 PM: Make really cool structures from cardboard. Kids can challenge themselves to build the tallest skyscraper or the longest bridge possible. Build a structure that looks like a tree or animal. Use your imagination. Halloween Musical Fun with Elaine Kessler, Thursday, October 18, 3:30 PM: Friendly witch Elaine Kessler will have an interactive musical Halloween program to celebrate the fall. Come sing, dance, play and pretend including puppetry. This program is recommended for children ages 3 – 7 but can be enjoyed at any age!
Day of the Dead Crafts, Thursday, October 25, 3:30 PM: Do-it-yourself crafts to celebrate Dia de los Muertos or Dead of the Dead. This Mexican holiday celebrates family members from our past. Make paper skulls with flowers, rhinestones and other craft materials. If you liked the movie Coco, you will enjoy this craft. Deb Hudgkins Sing and Swing Children’s Program, “Down on the Farm,” Friday, November 2, 10:30 AM: Farms are fun! Preschool music and movement with a farm and autumn theme. Kids will have fun bouncing, moving to music, nursery rhymes, and activities including musical instruments and a parachute.
