CAMBRIDGE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville G. Bard, Jr. have announced that Ashley Monturio, 41 of Pembroke has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death in connection with today’s fatal hit and run that occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the area of 150 Erie Street in Cambridge.
Today at approximately 12:30 p.m. Cambridge Police responded the area of 150 Erie Street in Cambridge for the report that an elderly woman, identified as Romelia Gallardo, 80 of Cambridge, was injured and on the ground in the side parking lot at the Cambridge Housing Authority building. Upon arrival police located the victim, a resident of the Housing Authority, who had been pushing a wheeled walker when she was struck by a vehicle, a white Infiniti QX 60 SUV allegedly being operated by Monturio. The victim was transported to Cambridge Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Monturio was placed under arrest at the Cambridge Police Station and will be arraigned tomorrow in Cambridge District Court.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Cambridge Police and the Massachusetts State Police CARS and Crime Scene Services Units.
