During November 2016, the Tewksbury Police Department will be participating in “No Shave November” to benefit Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program that helps veterans and their families heal from the invisible wounds of war, such as TBI, PTSD, and related conditions. Each officer that pledges a minimum donation of $100 will be granted a month-long waiver from the department policy restricting facial hair growth. “No Shave November” allows officers to show support for veterans and their families while fostering camaraderie.

In 2015, MBTA Transit Police started the “No Shave November” first responder initiative and raised $15,000. In 2016, Transit officers will not only be joined by Tewksbury officers, but also members of the Boston, Foxborough, Reading, and Watertown police departments. We challenge other police departments to step up to the plate and support Home Base along with us!
