Revere Woman Arraigned Following Crash with State Police Cruiser in Medford

Anamaria Batista, 45, of Revere, was arraigned today in Somerville District Court and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, 2nd offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a state highway traffic violation. Judge Joseph Jennings set bail at $250 cash and ordered the defendant to consume no alcohol and to be subject to random screens. The defendant was then ordered held due to a probation violation out of Salem District Court. The next scheduled hearing in this case is Thursday, December 1.

 

At approximately 11:25 p.m., on October 18, 2016, Massachusetts State Police responded to a report of a crash involving a marked State Police cruiser at Wellington Circle in Medford. Upon arrival, authorities allegedly observed front-end damage to the defendant’s car and rear damage to the State Police cruiser. The defendant is alleged to have hit the State Police cruiser while it was stopped at a red light. The State Police officer sustained minor injuries.

 

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Lisa Labresh.
