Grant will fund updates to protective equipment for Tewksbury firefighters
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded a $232,226 grant to the Tewksbury Fire Department. The grant will allow the Tewksbury Fire Department to update critical breathing apparatus equipment for their firefighters.
“These firefighters put their lives on the line for the people of Tewksbury,” said Moulton. “We need to ensure they have the best equipment possible both to protect themselves and help people in need. This federal grant will offer critical support to our brave firefighters, and I am grateful to FEMA for its investment in Tewksbury.”
“The funding made available by the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program will allow the Tewksbury Fire Department to update aging self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA); a key component of a firefighter’s personal protective equipment,” said Tewksbury Fire Department Chief, Michael Hazel. “I would like to thank FEMA, the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, Representative Moulton, and Senators Warren and Markey for supporting this program and securing the funding. This award will help protect our firefighters and the community by making SCBA with the latest technology and safety features available to our first responders.”
