A STORM IS COMING! You won’t hear this from the National Weather Service!STORM THE STATE HOUSE

Posted by

The Massachusetts Motorcycle Association is forecasting a “Storm” in Boston on May 19, 2016. Only a month away, the MMA’s “STORM THE STATE HOUSE” will be the Motorcyclists of Massachusetts!
Motorcyclists across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and neighboring States are encouraged to meet at the staging locations listed below. More information can be found in the Calendar of Events Tab of the MMA Website (www.MassMotorcycle.org).
We plan to ride together to the State House in Boston, and converge in the Gardner Auditorium.
While visiting the State House, riders will have the opportunity to stop in and visit their State Representative and State Senator to discuss the MMA’s Legislative Agenda. Of particular interest, riders are asked to deliver copies of a letter asking for quick passage of Senate Bill Number 1855, An Act Establishing a Motorcycle Safety Fund. This Senate Bill was just released from the Joint Committee on Transportation with a “Favorable, Ought to Pass” recommendation and needs a BIG PUSH from the motorcyclists of Massachusetts so that our Lawmakers know this Bill is important to us.
If we don’t spend a little time making some noise and writing a few letters, then this Bill will die a slow death until the Legislative Session ends later this year.
The MMA exists to fight for the Rights of Motorcycle Riders and your efforts can go a long way to protect your Rights. Making 3 copies of 1 letter for this day is way less time than that single charity ride next weekend.

The “Storm” is your opportunity to donate to yourself!

In less than a month, on Thursday, May 19, motorcyclists in Massachusetts are planning to ride for a 15th consecutive year to the State House in Boston for the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association’s “Storm the State House” Legislative Lobbying Day.
This is a FREE event and parking is provided by the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association. All who are able to attend are encouraged to do so as this is the only Massachusetts motorcycle lobbying day.
In Massachusetts, every weekend day for the rest of the 2016 motorcycle riding season, thousands of motorcyclists line up to donate their time and money for all types of Charity and Support Rides benefiting a plethora of worthwhile individuals, causes and organizations. Your MMA is hoping an equal number of riders will also donate their time to “Storm the State House” in Boston on Thursday, May 19 to show the Massachusetts Legislature that we care about our issues, that we will fight for our issues, and that we Vote to help advance our issues. Your MMA is asking every motorcyclist in this state to make every effort to attend this 15th Annual Storm the State House Event on May 19, 2016.
We realize the Storm is scheduled on a regular work day, but if we scheduled the Storm for a weekend there would be no one at the State House for riders to talk to, and thus we would have zero impact. This is your chance for YOUR voice to be heard up on Beacon Hill.
Riders should plan to arrive at the Lion’s Club/Senior Center at 9 New Washington Street in Somerville anytime between 9-11AM. Coffee and breakfast snack foods will be available. Storm riders will depart promptly at for the short ride to the State House. During this ride we actually pass right in front of the State House and Legislators typically are waiting for our arrival.
