We’re not getting any younger! America is facing a major demographic shift. The Stanford University Center on Longevity predicts that “over the next 30 years, the US population age 65+ will double from 40 million to 80 million…. By the time the last baby boomer turns 65 in 2029, one in five Americans will be age 65 or older. By 2032, there will be more people age 65 or older than children under 15.” According to Reading’s Elder and Human Services Department Reading’s senior population is projected to grow by over 70% in the next fifteen years. It is time to reimagine services for older adults so we will be ready for the future both individually and as a community.
If you are an older adult, caregiver, or visionary then join this community conversation to plan for positive aging in Reading. Hear from resource providers about housing options, aging in place, and creative solutions for the future. Bring your questions and ideas. This program is best enjoyed as part of a series; you are invited to take part in as many sessions as possible.
