Mayor Carlo DeMaria joined over 200 Everett seniors last week at the Connolly Center in celebration of the Mayor’s Council on Aging’s monthly senior social. This month’s social was particularly special as the Mayor and his Council on Aging unveiled the newly renovated and upgraded kitchen facility. Mayor DeMaria and Senator Sal DiDomenico had acquired funds for the remodel in 2014. The Mayor, COA, and Connolly Center staff were pleased to open the doors to the new kitchen and serve attendees for the July social.
“An upgrade to this facility was definitely needed,” stated Mayor DeMaria, “Now we can not only use the kitchen to prep for our socials and events, but also to incorporate senior and community healthy cooking and eating programs. With this new facility we can provide the additional health, wellness, and nutrition programs that our seniors and families deserve.”
In addition to the unveiling of the kitchen, attendees also enjoyed another fun-filled social with a catered meal of antipasto, pizza, coffee and dessert and music and dancing provided by fan-favorite band, “The Swingers.”
