The Malden Cultural Council works to encourage and promote the artistic development of the arts in Malden among Malden’s residents through grant program funding. The State of Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Cultural Council allocates grant money to Malden each year in support of the fine arts, performing art programs, exhibits, festivals and other like events throughout the community. The Malden Cultural Council reviews local grant applications and awards grants to select proposals, as funding permits.
The Council consists of 11 members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City Council and each appointee serves a term of three years and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. The Malden Cultural Council meets quarterly at the Maccario Room, Malden Public Library, 36 Salem Street on the third Saturday of the month at 10:00 AM.
